Die Beta-Version von Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn wird allen PlayStation-4-Spielern offen stehen. Anders als bei der PC-/PS3-Beta wird man sich nicht im Vorfeld für die Teilnahme irgendwo registrieren müssen. Gleichermaßen werden die interessierten Beta-Spieler nicht schrittweise freigeschaltet - dies bestätigte David Yang (Senior PR Manager von Square Enix) gegenüber Dualshockers. Demnach kann jeder PS4-Spieler an dem Betatest des Online-Rollenspiels teilnehmen, der am 22. Februar 2014 starten soll. Eine PlayStation-Plus-Mitgliedschaft ist ebenso nicht erforderlich.

"We got word back from Senior PR Manager David Yang, that gave us some news that will probably pique the attention of those that already have a PS4 or plan to buy one soon: Every single PS4 user will be granted access to the PS4 beta of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, whether they have an existing account for the game or not. He also clarified that the floodgates will open for everyone as soon as the beta will start (on February 22nd), differently from what happened with the PC and PS3 betas, that allowed only a small number of players in the game for the first few phases. (...) PlayStation Plus won't be required to play Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn on PS4, so if you have a PS4 or will get one before February 22nd, there'll be nothing preventing you from trying the game for free at least for the duration of the beta."
