Mit Monte Cooks Numenera erwarte zudem eine völlig neue, unverbrauchte Welt darauf, erschlossen zu werden. Wie gewohnt sollen die Entscheidungen des Spielers auch entsprechende Auswirkungen haben. Das Spielgeschehen sei weniger kampflastig als bei Hack&Slay-Kollegen, man solle sich mehr mit Problemen auseinandersetzen und NPCs interagieren.
